This kinetic toy theater depicts the lowering of Lake Washington by 9 feet in 1916 when the ship canal went in that turned Pritchard Island into a marshland connected to Seattle. A disc in the background spins to show different dwellings on the island over time. The gears are printed with fish that call the lake their own and they are supported by cradles screen printed with invasive milfoil that was introduced in the lake around the same time the ship canal went in by people emptying fish bowls in the lake.
